ArtAbility® is an inspiring visual arts program run by ADEC that unites a range of talented artists of all ages, from a variety of cultures who are living with a disability.

About ArtAbility®

Now in its 12th year, the ArtAbility® exhibition showcases multiple artworks from artists of all ages who are living with a disability or an experience of mental ill health and who come from culturally diverse backgrounds across Victoria. ArtAbility® provides the contributors the chance to be seen as “Artists” by their peers, families and the community in general while promoting a message of ability rather than disability, strength in diversity and personal empowerment through engagement with the broader community.

ArtAbility® is a yearlong project made up of regular art workshops. These workshops are structured to provide opportunities for creativity, foster creative flow and will include drawing and using as inspiration found objects, multimedia and new technologies, photography and collage.

This year we are expecting around 100 artists to participate in the ArtAbility® program. The ArtAbility® exhibition takes place in the Atrium of Federation Square from December 13th to 21st 2016. The ArtAbility® exhibition provides a platform on which these artists can express their culturally rich personal journeys to some 40,000 members of the general public.
