Digital Respite

Running again in 2017!!

Digital Respite provides young people living with disabilities a creative, non-judgemental & educational space where they can develop various skills through the use of computers, devices such as iPads, games and software. This in turn provides their family or carers an opportunity to have some much needed respite time. Groups are normally run on a Saturday and lunch is provided.

Digital Inclusion Connecting Lives - Digital Respite Program

Tarun Kalra, Project Coordinator for the Digital Respite program at ADEC, supervises an innovative initiative to engage young people living with disabilities using information technology.  The program allows parents to take a break whilst their children interact with various digital technologies such as iPads and computers, engaging in free educational activities, playing applications and games, or using Social Media online.

The intention of the program was to connect young disadvantaged people living with disabilities to engage with the internet and the digital world, build their social and online skills and promote cyber safety. The program has now been running since 2011. Due to the success of this program, ADEC will continue to seek funding opportunities to ensure that our clients and participants continue to have access to these services in the years to come.
