Stronger ethnic communities for a Stronger Victoria 2018-2019
ADEC has successfully implemented a 12 month capacity building project that focused on building skills, confidence, and self- advocacy skills for families and carers of people with disability from African, Karen, Chinese and Arabic communities living in the northern, western and southern metropolitan areas of Melbourne.
Achievements
· Videos to facilitate knowledge and confidence through people sharing their stories and experiences. These videos feature people from Arabic, Chinese, Karen and African communities.
· A mentoring program well attended by participants whose lives are affected by disability. This was was conducted at our Preston and Dandenong sites.
· Workshops to increase awareness of human rights within ethnic communities.
