ADEC’s Family Violence program funded by Women’s Health West involves building capacity and generating awareness among women from CALD backgrounds, around issues such as domestic violence, family law and healthy relationships. The program promotes social and community inclusion through a series of workshops and recovery focused activities in a culturally sensitive manner.
Achievements to date
- Workshops strengthened the knowledge and awareness of participants on domestic violence, family law , financial independence, family law, and healthy relationships.
- Wellbeing sessions such as jewellery making , Yoga, light physical exercise assisted the women to participate in sensitive conversations and promoted social and community inclusion.
- Feedback and evaluation reported increased knowledge and confidence to identify and report abuse.
- Total 24 workshops delivered in Karen, Burmese, Vietnamese, Arabic and Chinese communities.
