What is Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP)?

  • CHSP is is a government funded program aimed at assisting people aged 65 and over access entry-level support services that empower them to maintain their independence safely in the comfort of their own homes.
  • CHSP also offers funding for low-care services

  • Transport– help to get out and about into the community such as attending medical appointments, shopping or visiting family and friends.
  • Domestic assistance– general house cleaning such as vacuuming, mopping, and cleaning the bathroom.
  • Personal care– help with bathing or showering, dressing, hair care, and toileting.

How to know if you’re eligible for CHSP?

You may be eligible for CHSP if you:

  • Are an Australian aged 65 or over, or
  • Are aged 50 or over for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples, or
  • Need assistance for daily living, and
  • Meet our geographic criteria

You must be registered with My Aged Care to avail these services.

Applying for CHSP services involves a straightforward process that begins with a face to face assessment of your eligibility and needs. Here’s how to apply for CHSP:

  1. Check Your Eligibility: Ensure that you meet the eligibility criteria based on your age and level of need.
  2. Apply through My Aged Care: Access the My Aged Care website or call the My Aged Care contact centre to initiate the application process.
  3. Complete the Assessment: Undergo an aged care assessment conducted by either the Regional Assessment Service (RAS) to determine your eligibility and specific needs. MAC will be in contact to start this process.
  4. Develop a Support Plan: If approved for CHSP services, the assessor will work with you to develop a personalised home support plan tailored to your needs and goals.
  5. Choose ADEC as your Service Provider: Use the My Aged Care Service Finder to find available providers in your area. Choose ADEC as your trusted CHSP service provider.
  6. Organise Our Services: Once you have chosen ADEC as your service provider, we will work with you to arrange the services you require. .
  7. Review and Adjust:  We will regularly review your support plan and services to ensure they continue to meet your needs and goals.

Fees are reviewed annually and are subject to change. All services are arranged and approved in consultation with you. The services you receive are based on your assessed needs and the established goals in your Care Plan. Call our team today to find out more about your co-contribution payment.

 

 

While CHSP funding is intended to support individuals in maintaining their independence and safety at home, there are certain restrictions and limitations on how the funding can be used. CHSP funding cannot be used for services that fall outside the scope of the program or for services that are already covered under other government-funded programs.
