ADEC was established as a not-for-profit in 1982. Advocating with unwavering dedication to empowering individuals from diverse backgrounds, championing the cause of equality, and nurturing community cohesion - a mission we have diligently pursued for over four decades—remains steadfast.

Our Vision is for ADEC to be recognised as a leading provider of disability and aged care services in Victoria.

ADEC’s Mission

The Mission of ADEC is to provide equal access to high quality disability and aged care services for all members of the Victorian Community.

ADEC will achieve the Mission through these organisational competencies:

  • A sound reputation for excellent service delivery with expertise in ethnic communities.
  • Wide experience and proven expertise in delivering disability and aged care services.
  • Our ability as an organisation to contribute innovatively in the development of disability and aged care
    services.
  • Our ability as an organisation to collaborate with other organisations to enhance the quality of disability and
    aged care services.

Strategic Goals

The Board’s has set these strategic goals for the period of this Plan:

green connector   We will engage competent staff and build their capability to achieve person-centred service outcomes.
blue connector We will build the capacity of people through programs, projects and planned activities that promote inclusion,
independence and empowerment.
orange connector   We will be competitive in an open market environment
green connector   We will build collaborative partnerships with stakeholders based on respect and mutual goals.

ADEC Values

ADEC is committed to the proposition that all people in today’s society have a right to quality services that meet their needs, that are inclusive and humane, and that respect the diversity of the community.

ADEC holds these values to be fundamental to this proposition:

orange connector All people with disability are individuals who have the inherent right to respect for their human worth and dignity.
green connector All people with disability, whatever their ethnic background or the origin, nature, type, and degree of disability, have the same basic human rights as other members of society.
blue connector All people with disability, whatever their ethnic background, have the same rights as other members of society to realise their individual capacities for physical, social, emotional and intellectual development.
orange connector All people with disability have the same right as other members of society to services that support their
attaining a reasonable quality of life.
green connector All people with disability have the same right as other members of society to participate in the decisions that affect their lives.
blue connector All people with disability receiving services have the same right as other members of society to receive those services in a manner which results in the least restriction of their rights and opportunities.
orange connector All people with disability receiving services have the same right as other members of society to pursue and
have resolved any grievance in relation to those services.
