Community Services

ADEC's Community Services is committed to improving the quality of life for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities through various support and capacity building programs. Our Social Support Program stands as a dynamic and inclusive initiative tailored for individuals and families facing disability or frailty, offering language-specific peer support groups, monthly meetings, and a vibrant intersection of recreational activities promoting mental health and well-being.

Health Services

ADEC's Community Services play a crucial role in empowering individuals by giving them awareness about their rights to access health services. Our programs and resources, endorsed by the Australian government, are designed to raise awareness and provide guidance, ensuring that individuals in diverse communities can navigate and access health services effectively. By fostering understanding and advocacy, we contribute to promoting equitable health access and improving overall well-being for all. Our initiatives also involve collaboration with health professionals to deliver accurate and culturally sensitive information, facilitating a holistic approach to wellness within CALD communities.

Community Services Department

ADEC's Community Services Department aims to build the skills and knowledge of CALD communities through a platform of Capacity Building Projects, an Advocacy Program and a language specific Social Support Groups Program. We work with people from CALD backgrounds who are living with a disability, those with mental health concerns, people who are frail, their carers, and family members.

Social Support Groups Program

ADEC's Social Support Groups Program offers language specific peer support groups to empower people and families from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds affected by disability, or who are frail, by delivering an inclusive program of informative and recreational activities.

From informative sessions and memory games to art classes, excursions, gentle exercise, and gardening, participants engage in a diverse array of activities. ADEC's commitment extends to fostering an environment reflective of a culturally diverse state, promoting equitable services and supporting multicultural communities through impactful social services. The program is a testament to ADEC's dedication to building a supportive and culturally rich community for all.

ADEC works closely with local networks and councils to identify and understand the needs within the community. This is done through meetings, community projects and 1:1 supports to clients and by taking part in local Expo’s.
Capacity Building Projects enables ADEC to ask questions and collate feedback to enable successful delivery of services. Through such projects, participants are encouraged and supported to take the lead in facilitation in areas of experience, life skill and confidence. ADEC provides and supports to the community by empowering them with knowledge which then enables them to connect and educate their families and to advocate on issues and barriers identified within their community.
